Extend access for vulnerable workers
Vulnerable workers are at high risk of negative shocks to their well-being (e.g., related to income) and their ability to participate in the labour market (e.g., illness). As such, policies and programs that help to protect vulnerable workers and support their inclusion in the economy are much needed. Extending access to social protection reduces their vulnerability to such shocks. Some of the commonly understood categories of vulnerable workers are: Informal workers, migrant workers, women workers, youth or older workers, domestic workers, workers with disabilities or workers that are in precarious employment. The context determines what workers are most vulnerable to certain shocks and the focus of (now) social protection mechanisms.
