Job creation
In many countries the majority of jobs is found in the so-called informal economy where people are (self-)employed in micro, small- and medium-scale enterprises (MSMEs) that manufacture products or offer services. Others are (petty) traders, selling their products on the market or in a small shop. What these MSMEs have in common is that the working conditions for their employees are often poor and jobs are far from decent. Facilitating sustainable entrepreneurship with the aim to create decent jobs, therefore, is a challenging area of work.
